Leathergoods companies clean up Rome

Italian fashion house Fendi is financing a €2.12 million restoration of the Trevi fountain in Rome, which its CEO Pietro Beccari said is to reinforce its Roman roots.

The 20-month project was unveiled at a city hall press conference today.

Fendi is also donating €320,000 to restore another fountain in Rome, the Quattro Fontane, bringing its total contribution to €2.5 million.

Separately, the founder of the Tod's footwear company has offered to pay €25 million for the restoration of the Colosseum.
